I fitted the Osram Silverstar H4 bulbs rated at 60/55W. The big advantage is once you've worked out how to remove the headlamp unit, they drop straight in and are only £14 a pair. I fitted one side first so I could get a comparison between Silverstars and my normal bulbs. They are an impovement and provide a cleaner whiter light, but not as much as I had hoped.
While the lights were out I cleaned the inside as well as I could and used an air line to remove any dustt, I also spent some time adusting the lights to make sure I had the best beam pattern which in my case means more bias towards the nearside.
With my other 'older' cars I have always fitted uprated bulbs (100/80W) and then adjusted the lights to aim lower and avoid dazzling other drivers on dip beam. These have given significant improvments in lighting and have never given any problems with overheating wiring or switch burn out. However it appears if you do this on a 911 you need to fit relays and possibly upgrade the wiring which at the moment I'm not prepared to do.
