944 S2 Cabrio.

I've received a new boot rubber.
the previous owner had the rubber from something else on it which did not fit.
Which way round does the rubber fit ? as I have no reference.
raised lip in or out?
breather holes in or out ?
please have a quick look so I can get it fitted with confidence.

It doesn`t help that the original post is a little confusing. Why not post a picture of the seal showing the area of concern. Someone could then post a picture of their seal for comparison. Alternatively why not simply re-fit the new seal in the same way the old one was fitted ?
As has already been said you can`t expect to come on and get 24hr real time advice, especially at night. Give it a day or so.
If the forum was divided up then you might not get any replies at all, as things are 911 owners who once owned 944`s might be able to help. Most people, myself included pop on every now and again for a moment, we haven`t time to go on 8 different forums and besides there are a lot of subjects that span the various models. Luckily there doesn`t seem to be the same clique mentality of some other marques.

I seem to have dropped into TVR S mode, and thought I would have had a reply by now (as I would have done in 15 mins on theTVR site)
Well the TVR's gone, so looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer on here for a reply.

Good heavens calm down. 
Think there were fewer than 6,000 of these built in total, the last nearly 15 years ago. The boot for the cab is totally different from the boot for the coupe, whether the rubber seal differs or not I don't know.
Have you spoken to the people that supplied the rubber to see if they have fitting instructions?
Failing that I'd take it to a decent indie and ask them to fit it for you - its not something you are likely to need to do very often, so you may always pay a little bit to be sure its right.

I would suggets that if you want to stop the water getting in then raised lip to the outside would make sense and breathers inside.
I havn't had a chance to look at my S2 coupe to see if its similar but i would guess it is.
As to speed of response:-
I would have thought it is a little unrealistic to start getting stroppy the same evening that you posted. This is a fairly quiet forum and these are are far less "hands on" cars than TVR's. There are people who do their own work (myself included) but it is more rare as they don't need such constant attention. You will get a reply it might take time for the right person to see it.
It would be nice to avoid the marque rivalry that seems to exist in TVR land here, particulary as you have now joined the Porsche ranks. Most of my friends run TVRs and I have driven most of them and like them. Personally I casn't seem the appeal in owning something so patently flawed but each to their own. So far this forum has been very grown up it would be nice for it to remain so. It has remained free form the day-dreaming 16year olds that seem to occupy other areas.
