911 as trackday proposal
Discussion
TBH I doubt if you could find a more reliable performance car than an air cooled 911. Some might be quicker; until they break down that is but nothing much gives as much ownership satisifaction.
I've an est. 7.5k track miles on mine and the only time its broke down is when the gearbox gave up and to be fair I knew it was a problem but was too mean to have it fixed before it broke. Other than that it's just been an endless procession of new tyres, brake pads and discs and clutches but you have to expect that really. The only other replacement I can recall is a driveshaft but it hadn't actually given up.
Other than that it's 200 miles a day and it's as strong at the end as at the start. Doesnt even use much oil. I drive mine there and back ( usually )as well.

I can vouch for what tony t says ....he's a bit of an expert on the subject. You will need a good specialist garage to look after your car , not an OPC . We are lucky in the NW of England in that respect. You will want to put the car on a diet as well as beefing up the suspension and maybe getting an extra set of wheels for stickier tyres. Its only money......
