Top end finally under way

Anyone else had this done and experienced any problems along the way?

Ive been warned that the exhaust can sometimes be damaged whilst removing (if its been on for years etc), Im mildly concerned about the cost but really fancy a stainless pipe for that extra throaty growl

I think the most alarming thing thus far is having to drive an 'ordinary' car again, and it feels almost lethal with the lack of grip/control etc...Bless it (Daewoo Nexia 1.5 GLi )

Anyway, double good news today. Got a call from Matt @ Autowerke to advise that my top end rebuild is under way and everything looks very healthy so far. Clutch is good, exhaust behaved itself and came off fine (I was secretly hoping it might injure itself on the way off and necessitate a nice sporty replacement ). Everything else looking good - so fingers crossed for a nice manageable bill.

And...

I paid off my loan for the Pork today too! Its quite a liberating experience owning such a stunning car outright, I feel proud of myself!!!

As long as the flanges, chiefly on the exhaust components, are sound,
and you can't see through it for rust. then it might be good for awhile yet!

I've been told the alternatively vocal exhausts, sometimes sacrifice heat
for sound,

so be aware.

Matt said that the exhaust flanges were fine, and I was only really toying with a stainless back box at this time for a bit of growl. Heat exchangers and everything else is still well. Will I still have a detrimental effect of the heat by doing this?
