Anyone tried the DMS upgrade for the 3.4 996?
Discussion
Hi all,
First message, so HELLO!
I have an immaculate 1998 996 C2 with loadsa spec in Ocean blue, Grey leather and Mk1 areo kit.. The car has only covered 33k miles!
As of the beginning of Dec this will become my 2nd car and will spend a little more time resting. I was looking to change to a 3.6 and then thought for the extra money for a 2nd car what would I actually get? All i could really think of was a little more power!
So having a look around I found DMS (helpful on the phone) and there upgrade would take my 3.4 into 3.6 power territory for about £1k with no traceble marks.
Has anyone done this or heard of how good it is?
Also what other "reasonably" priced mods can i consider to make it a little more fun? I would like the PSE but at £1800 it seems a tad pricy for sound alone! but I do feel the 3.4 sounds a little weak compared to the 3.6!
Anyway, I look forward to any responses.
Thanks
Nick

Don't discount the 3.6 cars as just having a small amount of extra power.
The cars had a raft of major changes made including engine, suspension, aerodynamics.
I recently found a full list of changes & its an eye opener - pretty much the whole car has been tweaked & improved.
Getting back to the question, if I had £1800 to spend on mods, I would get a PSE & not touch the engine. I had my C4S DMS'd & in all honesty couldn't really feel any difference at all, and thats on the 3.6 cars that apparantly respond better to ECU tuning than the 3.4 cars. My only regret from 12 months with my 1998 C2 was that I never got a PSE put on it.
