3.0ltr 944 S2 Engine into 2.5 S1

I want to put a later S2 3.0ltr engine into my 2.5ltr Auto S1. Does anybody know what is involved, is it a straight forward job?

Speak to Dave at JZ Machtech, he's just put an S2 engine into a manual 2.5 LUX.

I think there is a chap called Peter Empson on the 968uk forum who did this - he was at Donington on Sunday, and his 944 looked like a 2.5 but I know had an S2 engine installed. Certainly kept the 968s honest!

It can be done (from memory, the block is very similar). But its the other things you'll need to look at: uprated clutch? change the front badge panel for one which houses the air filter, change the ecu, etc. A later S2 might have been fitted with a cat when new, so you'll have to be careful with that as well.

Got a 944S2 engine and box available - just fitted the donor car with 968 running gear mit supercharger. Ran sweet enough and all gears but high mileage so will probably need rings & guides soon. Contact me direct if anyone is interested (thanks in advance Ted).

Would it not be cheaper to buy an S2 with the engine already in it?
