GT3 mpg?

Guys,

I have now done 700 miles in the Mk2, thoroughly enjoyable and this ,may have contributed but I have only got 15mpg out of her, is this normal?

Mine was around 16-17 for the first 1000 miles or so but it's generally between 22 and 24 now.

20-23 now in normal driving.

Yep 22-24 is about right & that includes sitting in traffic more than I'd like to. To be honest you'd need to be really hammering it hard to get down to 15mpg, in which case let me know where you've been able to do it, cos I can't find anywhere on a consistent basis!!

I average 16 in mine. I open "her" up at almost every available opportunity. Enjoying things whilst I can!

I spend alot of time in traffic and or just doing short bursts, I also like leaving it in gear at 6-7000rpm just to hear the sound!!!!

When I picked it up and drove it back from the OPC on the South Coast, I managed about 23mpg on the M3, so maybe my lead foot isn't helping?

Might ask Hatfield to give a once over.

Any other reason why it would be thirsty?

I'd reckon on 20-24 mpg average, but it does vary with the degree of right foot flex! I get 8-9 mpg on track, up to 28mpg on a long continental run.

I'd be surprised if there's anything wrong.

When did you last reset the mpg counter? It just continues averaging forever so if you don't reset before getting on the motorway etc. it ends up very skewed to whatever normal driving you do. I thought my car had a prob too as I was only getting about 22 mpg on the motorway. Reset the mpg reading and it went up to 27 or so. (you need to pull the computer control stick towards you when your display is not in a menu to bring up the reset counters menu).

I get about 21mpg in London, and 26-28mpg cruising on the motorway. Some claim over 30mpg on the motorway, but no idea how they get it!

Yep, I got the car new.

I would add also that the car's computer is a bit optimistic in its MPG display - I always keep track of my fuel/mileage in a spreadsheet and this is generally about 23mpg when the car computer says 25.

I keep a close watch on what mine achieves and it will return anything from 15 mpg to 32mpg. To get 32 you need to cruise at a steady 80/85 mph on the motorway. Around town I get about 20-22 but don't do much of that. On track it drops to about 8mpg. Its very easy to be a litle heavy with the right foot and burn a lot of petrol getting nowhere in traffic. Pushing hard on a country road is about 15-18.

Probably driving like an idiot.

Edited: Just had a think about my AVERAGED "typical" usage and that's reasonable.

I got 24 mpg sat on the motorway to Adenau last weekend overall I get about 20mpg.

just filled up AGAIN, and reset the computer, lets see what we get. I think part of the problem is that I do relatively short journeys and whilst the car is cold the ecu will enrich the mixture, that and my lead foot!

I'll post the results of this full tank, which is tiny BTW

27-33 mpg on my regular run from london to brecon at 85 ish on the motorway, then some 'a' roads
