I'm finally getting round to sorting the highly stonechiped front end on my 964.

after trawling round a few local bodyshops I've had quotes of £900, £700 and £600.

- can anyone advise on what to look for it the quotes? there are for essentially the same thing (wings/headlamp rings/bonnet & bumper)

- I'm reluctant to spend more than £700 but the £900 quote comes highly recommended.

any paint shop horror stories?

how best can I protect myself against shoddy work?

cheers all,

BERGS (sufferer of eternal paranoia)

Not that I've used them yet but Specialized Paint near Reading seems to be frequently recommended in Porsche circles...

Whoever does it, make sure they know you are an enthusiast and you will be looking very closely at the finished results. This should help focus their mind to doing a very good job - first time.

Ask about colour match and also what preparation they will be doing? Will they be rubbing each panel down to remove the existing chips, or will they simply be 'blowing over the top' - this will often leave a trace of the chip underneath the new paint.

ninemeister did a very impressive job on mine (but they are quite far up north).
