Do 285 tyres fit on a 996?

I've got some GT3 alloys on a standard 996 c2, currently shod with 265/35/18 tyres. Can I put 285 width on or are they for the wide bodied versions?

my 3.6 c2 has 285 as standard, so I would say yes - the gt3 normally has 295 though

I have 285s on GT3 wheels, no problem at all. The increased width does provide
some extra protection from kerbing the rims.
