There was one on ebay last year - sold for just £230. I asked on rennlist if it would fit my car and somebody read my post and then outbid me!

In answer to your question, no. But Carnewal do a brand new factory 450 kit (2 x k24 turbos, oil cooler and ECU) for just £3500!

Is it just an ECU change to go from 408 to 430bhp?

Technically, yes. If you ordered the 430 upgrade from the factory they raised the boost from 0.8 to 0.9 bar in the ECU and also installed a small additional oil cooler to the car.

Twin tail pipes, as far as I know were only on the Turbo "S" (450 bhp on K24's. I have a factory 430bhp Turbo and it was a different exhaust BUT still single pipes)!

That's right but you also get them if you do the factory 450bhp upgrade. They were an option when new.

Confirmed - my car has the factory 450 bhp upgrade and has the twin tail pipes. Having said that, they're only the ends of the pipes, i.e. cosmetic, but they do make it look purposeful....

Yes, and I know that trying to DIY some things is just not worth the hassle. I've done it sooo many times before

If I want better performance I use a lower gear!

Well, i have obtained an RS tuning ecu which is supposed to be for k16's with modified wastegates (which i don't have), 100 cell cats, and sports exhausts.

I did a series of runs from 60 to 130 in 5th, with my stock ecu at 13 seconds.
Same 60 to 130 increment with the new ecu, which appears to be overboosting and then hesitating at 4krpm and again at 5krpm, and it still comes in at 10 seconds dead.
The mid range torque has gone through the roof!

I will know more after the dyno on sunday.

13 down to 10 seems pretty impressive.

Will we see this appearing at a VMAX near us soon?

Oh, and your offer of letting me see your car (on the re-trim thread) - I'll PM you and hopefully we can sort something out. I have to see this car.

You will need to sort the overboosting, it is a pain. DeR's car would have done a mph or two quicker at Vmax if it didn't have similar overboost probs (later sorted out I believe).

K24s are the way forward... good for 540bhp in a Turbo 4. DeR's chariot is otherworldly now

You see, that's the problem, i want to stay with K16's. I'm not bothered about how much power, i just want to maximise my car's potential. I have the 100 cell cats and sports exhaust (easily reversible) and now this ecu (which is plug'n'play replacement for mine). To return the ecu to stock would take me about 3 minutes.
I don't know if i've gained the 40 or so horsepower claimed, but i would wager i've gained at least 80lb/ft in the midrange, posibly more. The in-gear performance is totally different. The noise is pretty good too now

That's a bit like Hitler saying "I'm not a meglomaniac but we Germans have a problem defining borders."

Trust me, you need KKK30s, never mind 24s.

A well constructed and intelligent response.

It still has to be said that K16s are for girls tho'

DeR, don't worry, i'm not heading your way. Keeping my car as close to standard as possible - GT3 seat, 6 point harness, techart 100 cell cats and sports exhaust system, RS ecu. Easy to take seat, harness, and ecu out, and exhausts would go with the car if i ever sold it.
This way, with my nice little turbos, i get virtually no lag but still make the best use of my turbos/cats. And now i can try and start saving up for a double garage, and then something to keep the 993 company - maybe a E30 M3/928GT/TVR Chim/968CS/993RS (depending on funds and mood).

Even with K nothings on a 964RS is probably as quick as a 993tt around a track I'm sure Steve Rance will agree

You wait - you say you won't upgrade the turbos today, but I reckon you'll change your tune when you experience Martyn's K24 beast and DeRs new spec uber-beetle. I'd give it 12 months: you're a fiddler Pete, I know what you're like...
