Toying with the idea of a nice new all leather interior for a 964/5. Any ideas of how much this could set me back and where best to get it done in the South East. I know I wont add value to the car doing this but I do like a new interior.

There's a place in Byfleet, Surrey called Surrey Trimmers. Had them recommended and plan to have a few scuffs removed from my leather interior.

We will have to find a local body shop if we do! I will look at for a silver 993TT and give you a flash (either a purple 928, green 964 or if all works out with mylastes master plan my very own silver (single turbo) 965)

I got a quote for this for a 993.

Came in at almost exactly 4K (inc VAT) for the full works.

Just trying to decide whether to go ahead or not. Slightly concerned about whether having the dash out is a good idea. But on the other hand would it look odd to have some done but not the rest ... ?

Dan, does your car *need* a re-trim (knackered leather or whatever) or do you just fancy a colour change?
£4k is still a fair few quid eh? Trackdays, a few trips to the 'Ring and back, big reds, second set of wheels with SSR's, etc.

No guarantee it will all be the same colour, or finished in the same year started.

Hmm, need, now there's a funny word ...

No it doesn't need a re-trim and the colour won't change (black). However, it is only part leather at the moment and I'd like to go full leather, for the seats at least. So I'm definitely going to do the front and rear seats, and "may" do some or all of the rest.

So really the decision (as I see it) is:

1. seats only
2. seats and centre console
3. seats and "everything" (doors etc.) except the dash
4. everything

thoughts?

Actually what I'd like to do is take a long look at a 993 with full leather and see if that helps me decide.

Dan, i've got full black leather (everything except the headliner) if you fancy a dash up to Reading to have a look. Or if you fancy coming to Silverstone on Sunday i'm up there for a rolling road day.

I'm in the process of making the same decision, my 964 has got a pinstripe cloth interior, which is nice & grippy & in immaculate condition but makes the car seem a bit low rent.

Have you thought about buying a secondhand full interior? prestige salvage in leeds had a leather interior from a 964 targa for about £700 if memory serves, they also pop up on Ebay from time to time.

Now to be fair, as I understand it everything they did was the same colour (ie as itself), it just wasn't the right colour.

Given that the rest of mine is vinyl I don't expect it to match anyway.

My current car (which I m selling to fund the car I want to retrim) is black cloth pinstripe and I planned to change that and after advice bought some 996 black leather front seats which I am assured will fit if I modify the rails but then i got used to the cloth (which ages better than leather IMHO)and so the 996 seats are stuck in the garage, must sell them soon.

If anyone gets a job done by s/bound please post the results. Out of three jobs I've never been happy with anything until it's been redone at least once.
Maybe i'm just fussy or unlucky.

2 roofs (first one poor fitment) - only noticed when I pointed it out
2 carpet sets (first one had glue over it) - only noticed when I pointed it out
gt3 seat retrim - don't even ask. Eventually gave a substantial refund.

Total 4 months over run.

I had my 968 cab roof done and the results were very good indeed. It did take longer than expected but no complaints about quality, but maybe Im not very fussy.

And to return to these excellent points:

1. trackdays, yes good idea, probably get a few of those in somehow
2. trip to the 'Ring I'd love to, but getting approval from Mission Control ...
3. big reds - nice, but do I really need them? I would actually like big blacks, so that it still "looks" stock
4. second set of wheels - also nice, but in all honesty, would I actually bother to swap 'em around?
