The clutch pedal has just started sticking on my 944 turbo (87 220 model with about 124k), sometimes it is a bit slow coming back up after I take my foot off and sometimes it requires a little bit of toe to bring it back up. It is coming up far enough that the clutch is not slipping so is useable but is a bit total pain. Is this indicative of clutch itself giving out or something going wrong between foot and clutch?

Any help would be most apprecaited.

Whilst not entirely similar i'll grant, i had the same thing in my Elise..
Its simply expansion/contraction in the pedal box when beaning it, or, as recently, in the cold.. if you get in the footwell a good squirt of WD40 into the clutch lever point should do the trick.. I've not looked at this on my 944, but i'm assuming you can get to it.

could be master cylinder or poss. slave cylinder beginning to die.
What state is the fluid in?
Also worth running your hand up behind the pedal and down the rod you'll
possibly find it covered in brake fluid indicating the master cyl is knackered.

Sounds like your slave cylinder is shot.

I'm pretty sure the clutch pedal has a return spring - might be worth checking that it is working ok first.

It was either £280 or £425

I have a post it note on my desk that has 2 figures on it, £425 and £280 one of them is for the clutch stuff the other is for a windscreen... cant remember which...

The spring is a two stage device. At the beginning of the travel it acts as a return, and then as the pedal is depressed it acts as a helper to lower the pedal effort. This is why the pedal stays depressed when the hydraulics fail and don't push the pedal back up beyond half way or so.

From what you are saying, if the pedal is comming halfway but no further the spring is doing it's job and the hydraulics are tits up - the master or slave cylinders. Porscheshop sell repair kits for about the £20 mark. Does anyone have any experience of these and how complex is the repair and associated removal and reinstatement of the cylinders?
