Have my LHD 1989 964 C4 100k miles in the classifieds at the moment and although there has been some interest at £12,500 (started at £13,ooo)no one has been knocking my door down, well not to buy the car anyway ! The car has a great service history has updated Ruf wheels, cup mirrors, lowered suspension and has featured in several artciles in Porsche and 911 World runs beautifully and is pretty as can be. I thought I'd priced it to sell but maybe not, what would be the right price ?
My mate bought a 100k mile 1989 C2 2 years ago for £12k - RHD FSH, Guards red/linen, teardrops, cups and he had a choice of cars at that price. I was offered an LHD C4 in Guards for £9k last year - was going to need top end work though and had been painted (well, as it happens), but had cups and teardrops too plus black leather and 160,000 on the clock. Paul Stephens bid him £7k for it!...

As with all things a car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.
Didn't Paul sell it originally for less than £13k though?
I'm not big into LHD 964 prices (unless they are the RS variety
) so can't really help on price but it does look a nice car, perhaps the colour puts a few people off - but again beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

) so can't really help on price but it does look a nice car, perhaps the colour puts a few people off - but again beauty is in the eye of the beholder!I hate to say it, but i am going to see a 964 (I know, I know, I said i wouldn't) on saturday, service history, 65k miles, although LHD, (yes, again, I know!) and it's pink!!!! However, it does have nice 18" Turbo wheels on AND, is less than £10k 
Now, I am going into this with eyes wide open and if i can get it cheap enough I will have cash over to get any jobs that may need doing done.
My main concerns at that price are a) correct mileage and b) accident repaired, as it has had a full respray. I can only get an HPi check done and then trust in the guys at, probably R&D Automotive, to give it a thourough checking.
My gut feeling is though that it is too good to be true.
Though on the other hand, it could be that it is just a LHD Pink Porsche
(oh, and since talking to the guys at R&D, who I have used for the last 18 months for the Ferrari, i am a lot less suspicious of 964s than I was before.
Still want one of these though ideally (not the CS obviously) but I think this is a cracking colour scheme

HPI check next to useless on a left hand drive car as it will only cover insurance written off damage whilst the car has been in the UK, no damage in it`s former country will be covered. In the case of ringers the numbers (chassis etc), recorded will be those as supplied by the importer who might well be the last link in the ringing chain, or an innocent 3rd party. Either way it won`t help you much.

As you say go in eyes wide open. At sub £10k all the chap has to do is pop it over to us and save all the nasty business of trying to sell it himself. 15 minutes and a cup of our delicious hot chocolate later he`s weighed in and on his way. Wonder why he`s decided not to go down that route ?

A lot of my eye opening is down to your advice Henry thanks. So as you say, if it doesn't have full history, i have to assume it is 125k miles, not 65k!
Hadn't thought about HPi not covering previous country damage ... bollx - how do you guys get around checking that a car is legit when it's LHD? AND, this one happens to be from Italy too!
Oh well, I can only look and see what my gut feeling says.

I've not seen it in the flesh but Ray's a straight bloke and it is an older 915 boxed car so it's probably around the right money - tempted myself for the summer.

Henry, what's your view on an import from Germany with a Fahzeugbref that is clean - i.e. "unfallfrei"...just how watertight a "guarantee" is that document that the car hasn't had a major shunt?
FWIW, as Henry says, that 964 could have been to the moon and back, it may be a ringer or simply stolen. If it's in Rubystone, much as I love the colour

I think a Carrera 3.2 in GP White with black leather is a perfect colour combo - really, really nice. When I first started looking for a Porsche I saw a white 3.2 and very nearly bought it. But it was RHD and couldn't get on with the driving position. Bought a 944 instead (from Henry).

Thanks Mach and ICSD - 138k is just too high for me I'm afraid. I can now get my head around just over the 100 mark if i really have to, but not by masses. The car that ICSD pointed out is too old, if i have a 3.2 it must be a G50, and a coupe.
There is a lovely white one at Marcus Fothergill, but it's just a bit too much money. And I am hoping to see a red 3.2 (88) with 107k miles at the weekend.

Burriana, I'm going to take a flyer here but if you mean HOGES and Surrey rather than Hodges and Kent then I will be up in Sheffield briefly around Christmas and theres a chance The family and 4X4 will go up on their own a few days earlier so I can drive the 964. Its likely to be Christmas Eve but will let you know for sure closer to the time.
