Road conditions this evening - hilarious
Discussion
Just went out for a random blast. Sideways everywhere, wheelspin in 3rd overtaking people, utter mentalism!
And no, I haven't suddenly found an extra few hundred bhp from somewhere.
I guess a combination of just above freezing temps, leaf mulch, and not enough moisture to wash it away causes ice-rink conditions.
Mine was stepping out on virtually *every* corner, it was great fun. And I'm on my winter tyres now....
Oi Nervous - you'd better keep your wits about you this weekend!!!

My Mitsubishi Evo 8 drives 90% as good in these conditions as in the bone dry!! It's no Porsche fair play but it's a great 2nd car with the best grip I've experianced on a road car with road tyres!!
Bet ya it 'feels' as good but is a lot slower. And I bet the trick diffs are working a hell of a lot harder as well.
I had 2 Scoobies and yes, they laughed at poor road conditions - the 4wd and clever diffs (and, let's be honest, bloody good chassis balance) making up for slippery roads. If there's any grip to be found, the Scoob would find it and away you go. When there's no grip to be had.... may the gods smile upon you...
Everyone says it but it's true - if you lose control of one of those 4wd rally missiles, it's going to be a big accident. Be careful out there! The fun thing about the old Porker is that I can have a bit of a laugh sliding around at low speeds (and thus less chance of death / serious damage if I lose it)
The only thing that nastily caught my Scoobies out was braking hard and one front wheel going over a slick manhole cover. Must have been an edge case for the software as the car went berserk. And remember - the 4wd crew may feel invincible in the wet / icy / slippery conditions when accelerating and cornering, but in braking you're in the same boat as everyone else!
(disclaimer - I have only driven Scoobs and not Mitsu Evos)

a rug on a freshly polished floor on some ball bearings on a banana skin on a rollerskate would give more grip than my car at this time of year.
Get some winter tyres then! Or just go sideways everywhere and have a laugh!
what, after ive just invested in the rug on a freshly polished floor on some ball bearings on a banana skin on a rollerskate? d'you think im made of money?

It's no fun though is it? I was out earlier on some B roads in my S4...quite a few revs on the dial in 5th..brake for a corner, down the box...leaves, mud from a tractor...car lurches a bit sideways...hammer down ...round we go..blah!..blah!
Now doing to same in a 2wd 911RS would have been a lot more interesting...

Isn't yours a Carrera 4?? Surely that's 4 banana skins then, you should be fine.
