static noise tests

Sorry to have to ask but it has been a good few years since I did any track days. How do they do a static noise test? What distance from the car and what rpm?

1m from the back of the car (not helpful for 911's), 3/4 rpm (so for 6k rev limit about 4.5k rpm).

IIRC at Goodwood the meter was about a foot away, with about 2/3rds redline, about 4750 on my 964. which incidently came out at 105dB (standard zoorst, 'cept a G pipe..)
