Today is a sad day, she's leaving me
Discussion
After nearly four years together tonight is the last night the 993 will be sat safely tucked up in the comfort of her own garage for tomorrow she is off to be sold.
Tonight my fellow Porschisti is a sad one and I feel like sharing my pain with the understanding collective.
Never again will the bark of her RSR’s pi55 the neighbours off or in the case of the Supercups scare them to the death and seek an ASBO for me.
Never again will she prowl the streets in search of an M3 to torment
Never again will TVR owners stare at me with covetous glances as my car works and theirs doesn’t
And more importantly, never again will I be the proud owner of without doubt one of the greatest bits of kit ever made.
Come to think of it why the hell am I selling it?
Well it’s time for a change and given a budget in the sort of 50 to 70 k range I would welcome a bit of input on what to think about getting next will help ease the pain of her departure?
I really do want RHD and I’m thinking a nice 993 T4 although they are doing an impersonation of Lord Lucan these days or a 996 GT2 which hasn’t been picked out of a hedge with tweezers and stuck back together could fit the bill as well.
Alternatively a 993 RS (but I’m not buying one from north west London if you know what I mean
) if there is such a thing out there
The powers of the dark side are also taking a firm hold as I’ve driven a 550 Marra and loved it, I know people, I know!
Still I’m off for one last Hoon now but there is of course the chance that the dealer will return and not sell and we’ll get to spend many more happy years together.

You won't listen will you Rob!
Tried to steer you away from the charms of the Fezza, huge running costs, depreciation, reliablity (maybe better that your TVR I would concede) but what are you thinking!
50-70k opens the doors to all sorts of delectable air and water cooled Porkdom. From the sublime delicacy of the 993RS to the brutal if somewhat ham fisted approach of the 996GT2. ALL variants are preferable to your potential blunder into a 550.
Marriage has quite obviously pickled your nogin!

Rob,
Absorbing reading. You're pretty brave, whilst I've only had my 993 for half that time, I still can't contemplate replacing, only additions to my garage. The 993RS is the only car I *know* I'd switch it for. There's also the thought that a 996 GT3 MK1 might make a worthy addition, though never replace the character and overall experience of the 993 or earlier air cooled models.
Good luck! Nice choice to have to make
