maintaining service history

I have a 98 996 C4 due for a service next month - around 42K miles. It has 4 main dealer stamps and 2 specialist stamps (Charles Ivey) in the book. I am considering using a "recommended" small Porsche service specialist as opposed to returning to main dealer. Is this wise? Does it matter on a 7 year old car etc etc. Note that I have no warranty in place so will not effect this. PS I live in the North West if anyone has any other recommendations. Thank you
judging by the service my local OPC provide I'd rather see specialist's stamps in the book than their's. thank you.

The garage is trustworthy, honest and relatively inexpensive. i will also get a specialist stamp in the book.
The question is not how well he will look after the car, as i am happy with that, it is whether going this way will affect future resale value of my car.
I realise this is ultimately a personal decision but i am interested in your thoughts - would you buy the car with this as the last stamp?

The most important part is what has been done to the car, and has it been done properly.
As you have a low mileage car, its fair to say that you should keep the service history up from either OPC or specialist.
Provided its all logged with all details milage and dates, and can be confirmed from the dealer (specialist) it should be no problem selling it on.
It should always be remembered that just because its been to a OPC or specialsit, this does not mean that all the work has been done! Its still easy to buy a car with loads of work needed (like I did) You just make allowance in the price for the work.
Its still fair to say that the Specialist is the best place to take the car for a check before buying it, and in some respects this is more inportant than the history in real terms. The problem is, some people will not buy a car unless its got the proper OPC or Specialist stamps throughout.
The car will be worth considerably less without the history. Its all about what you want to spend, I would say with your car you can't afford not to spend the money on proper service history from a good Specialist at least! So check out the garage is a proper Specialist before you take it there, and not just a normal garage.
Go and have a look round the place, talk to the people who run it and ask them all about there service, and see who else takes there porsche's there. Check them out first!!!!!

The garage does indeed specialise in Porsche - it just doesnt have all the trimmings that an OPC or big name would have - therefore not all overheads. But certainly staightforward, honest advice from a trained mechanic and huge 911 enthusiast. I have no doubt about the quality of the way they will look after the car. As I stated, my friend has used them several times. My only concern was having a stamp from a relatively unknown specialist, but specialist just the same.
I guess as long i can "prove" the service and maintenance has been undertaken correctly when i sell the car in time to come, then that should be okay
