Official Porsche or 3rd party extended warranty & servicing?
Discussion
I took my 996 to my local OPC as I thought I may of had a water leak, which it appears I didn't, but the guy did say the reservoir does have a habit of cracking and it could need replacing. I asked if it was covered under my official Porsche extended warranty, and he said no. He did say that 3rd party warranty could well of covered it though? I kinda joked with him and said it was weird how the Porsche cover did not include it, but a 3rd party one did...he just kinda smiled.
Now when my current warranty expires in April, I don't know whether to re-new with Porsche or try a 3rd party - Any idea's? Personal experience you can give feedback on? ups and downs of both types? etc, etc.
On a second point, I have noticed some people saying it could be better to get cars serviced by an independent specialist, rather than an OPC, and that it doesn't seem to bother potential buyers when coming to sell, as people who are into Porsches would realise that an independent service could well be better than an OPC one...this is just what I've read on PH...I really don't have any personal experience.
My car is just over 4 years old, but has only done 23,000 miles...garaged daily...no track use, etc, etc. Always had FPSH and is like showroom condition - Should I risk pulling away from OPC servicing and a 3rd party warranty?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
