997 recall

Apparently Porsche has just send out a recall for 18.000 Porsche 997 and 997S produced between April and October 2005. There seems to be a fault with the exhaust (welding). According to the source it is a half hour job at the OPC.

Porsche ruft weltweit 18.627 911-er Carrera zurück - Grund: Abgasendrohre

STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - Der Sportwagenbauer Porsche hat weltweit 18.627 Fahrzeuge vom Typ 911 Carrera wegen Problemen bei den Abgasendrohren zurückgerufen. Davon betroffen seien Fahrzeuge, die zwischen dem 20. April 2004 und 21. Oktober 2005 produziert worden seien, teilte das Unternehmen am Mittwoch in Stuttgart mit./ne/ep

this is true. when i bought my house, i deliberately boycotted those with electricity fitted. the last of the candle lit will hold they're value much, much longer.

yeah, but the problem with the daylight models is that the dip-beam never seems to work. electrical loom issues i'll wager.

I heard that the guy in charge of the welding on the 997 exhausts (now recalled) used to be responsible for welding door stays on the 993's.

The Guy who styled the 993 was brought back from retirement to do the 997, as the 996 Guy was busy working on the new Cadilac two door, as he was experienced with large Coupes..!

I've seen this elsewhere as referring to the 996. The German text refers to April 2004 to October 2005, and not April 2005. Time blurs so when did the 997 start appearing? Surely not as early as April 2004?

Aye. The demise of the trebuchet is when war stopped being fun, IMO. All got a bit serious and samey after that. Lee Enfield 303's, AK47's, every bvgger's got one!
