Are 964 and 993 oil checking method the same?

I've knocked together this page about checking the oil on a 993, I'll add pictures when I can be bothered.

Am I right in assuming that exactly the same is true of checking the 964? If so I'll modify the page, it's getting loads of web hits already from 993 dudes and so I guess it's a common question for 964'ers.
