...... some nice clips in a programme on the National Geographic Channel - Programme was called 'Mega Structures' and was an hour-long show about the German Autobahns. A short interview with Alois Ruf and his wife, and some nice film of some of his cars in action.

They always repeat these programmes so keep an eye open for it!

Damn, I've been waiting to catch that for ages. I met the chap from National Geographic in 2004 with Mr and Mrs Ruf at their annual Hockenheim trackday. They were there to film them and also film the cars on the autobahn. He asked me if I wanted to be filmed, but as I had only collected my car that day from Ruf having had it's conversion, I declined.

I think i have seen this on Discovery ,,,, but the one i saw featured Mr & Mrs R quite a lot

I saw the autobahn program a year or so ago. If anyone knows when it is going to reshow, can they please post the details here I'll set my recorder.

Megastructures is on Channel 5 - Monday's at 8 - assume its the same show, was the Hoover dam this week.

I want an address to write to get the RUF programme on DVD, it'd be much appreciated if you guys could scrounge that up for the poor American on the other side of the pond

I saw this a week or so ago on National Geographic.

It amazed me the attention to detail the Germans put into the design of the Autobahn system, and the support to keep it going. Does anyone know if UK motorways are built to comparable specifications or just cobbled together with whatever is to hand...

No dvd for sale on National Geographic at present for the Ruf featured edition but you could try contacting them through this link to see if its going to be a future release.
