Well, I never thought I'd ever get the funds or the bollox to buy a GT3, but I've done it!

There are quite a few more impressive things to experience in life, such as the birth of your children etc etc, but I don't think I will ever tire of seeing it when I turn on the garage lights..

Sad, I know, but satisfying.

I'm off to donate some £££ to a worthy cause now to make me feel less guilty about my new toy.....

Would a top end rebuild be worthy enough?

Congrats on getting it. You only live once so if you get the chance to..........then why not!

Are you going to post some pictures?

You'll see plenty of pics in upcoming issues of Total911 - its a pretty decent magazine devoted to the 911 published by some real 911 enthusiasts...but I am a bit biased!!

As soon as I have some good snaps I'll post them on here too.

Just had a bit more driving with the GT3. Though softer than my 964 suspension-wise, its a lot more visceral, as you would expect. After a 15 minute drive, it takes about 20 minutes to get my hearing back!!

No, just a 964 tiptronic with Bilstein HDs. Trust me, the GT3 is much softer over crappy roads. The 964 was much, much louder (cat bypass and cup pipe) - it would set off car alarms and my kids knew I was coming home a couple of minutes before I pulled into the drive.

The GT3 is a pretty good package - but I understand why some people would not want one for a daily driver - the nosie & vibration, though wonderful, may not be to everybody's taste.

Gt3 is the ulimate Porsche on paper however always disappoints, unfriendly on U.K roads and just not quick enough.I have said it before...996tt way better normal use and nearly as much fun!!

John,
I see from the advert that your car has got the Cargraphic exhaust and CS clutch/flywheel. Maybe that is the reason for some of the vibration/noise ?

Reason I ask is, I drove mine back 700 miles from Berlin, admittedly all motorway miles, but all I had was a numb bum from the bucket seats !.

Compared to a 996tt and even more so a gt2,the gt3 doesnt excite,or offer enough road speed...flat out on perfect roads/track its great if you keep it on the gas and at 95% of its ability(lotus exige,m3csl come in this category).Follow a lorry around the average country 'b'road and want instant low rev accelaration it cant do it,not enough torque and noisy and uncomfortable as part of the bargain.Too compromised for me and slower than the 996 tt..what purpose does it serve...gt3rs is awesome but apart from track days what do you do with it?

kayc you sound like a f#c@ng broken record.

Is it your lifes ambition to knock the gt3 ? Every thread the same old thing ,you should have bought a tt , blah, blah, blah.

Everbody is allowed their opinion but really, who cares ??
The guy has just spent his hard earned cash on a car and probably could not give a toss what you think. Have you nothing better to do ??
Your negativity is sooo boring ( and seemingly endless ).

You should work as a jehovah's witness as you seem intent on converting the world !!

Here we go again... A GT3 has more than enough overtaking power assisted by fabulous throttle response (which you don't get on a turbo), and whilst its ultimate speed is a little compromised on badly surfaced roads, its still well beyond the legal limit. The GT2 is equally if not more compromised on badly surfaced roads so I'm not sure how that gets your plaudits.

You are well within your rights to prefer the 996 TT, but enough of the tedious GT3 bashing! Especially on a new owners post - very bad form.

Standing as an innocent bystander with a degree of curiosity, what are the differences between GT3's? (excl RS)
I know that the Comfort has comfy seats and (maybe?) the centre console, CS have full / half cage and lighter clutch/ flywheel asssembly? is there a middle ground? ie non CS but buckets and no cage? and what are relative values?

Have looked about but thought here would be a good resource.

Thanks,

Crook
