Old leather seats
Discussion
Not sure if this is the right forum but my 944 has cobalt blue leather seats. They are in need of a good clean and treatment as the ageing/wear lines really stand out. Can anyone recommend a product. I understand you can get colour matched treatment these days to help restore them.
Thanks

whoa, in at the deep end! youre taking your life in your hands with this one. I'll start the ball rolling by saying that I like zymol products - their Treat leather conditioner not only refreshes the leather beautifully but smells lovely too. In a short while there will be bids for Meguiars, Swissol products and a few online-only products. then Nervous will be along to tell us he uses his hair gel to get that "glued to the seat" feeling and someone somewhere will start an abusive flurry by telling either me or the swissol user that we are stupid southern tw#ts who are wasting our money when a good rub down with dried cow pat and sticky back plastic does just as well.
Try Zymol Treat......

I had the seats in my M3 reconnolised by www.leathercare-renovations.co.uk - was quite gobsmacked by the results - well worth the cost (£300 or so)

Chatting about this with someone at Silverstone on Sunday he reckoned that Oil of Ulay or baby oil are well worth using to keep the leather supple once it has been cleaned. No idea whether either work, but you'll have lovely skin afterwards
works best if you also drive naked....
Im all honesty if you want something that lasts then you are wasting your time with reconnolising, all it does is it dries out the leather more, which means they will look good for a year or so and then begin to crack even worse. I used to work at Southbound and have seen many cases of people spending a few hundred pound getting their seats reconnolised, only for then to come in for a retrim after a year or so.

Well I went DIY on the 325i Convertible with products from www.liquidleather.com
Very happy with the results, and as time passes, the leather looks/feels better
The finished product, ordered cleaner, conditioner and scuff master, the leather had some deep creases in places, colour loss on drivers bolster and 15yrs of accumulated dirt

Can you not keep it in shape by rubbing in conditioner from time to time? (I'm worth it!.. tossingheadfromsidetoside..)
