I've just been looking on autotrader.co.uk and for two grand less you could have this:

PORSCHE 996,
R reg, LHD manual, met black, full grey leather, 44k miles, fPsh, 18"" turbo alloys, climate +traction control, remote immobiliser, all usual extras, just had full Porsche service . £27,000.

Tel: 01202 660660 or 07976808909

Quite. I think a redefinition of the phrase 'really cheap' may be necessary. A dealer would probably bid 10K short of that if he knew you were in a pickle (and probably even if he didn't)

i agree with due to the fact that most porsches bore the life out of me but hey i am just doing a favor for a mate. one dealer offered 27,000 but he needs 29,000 to cover himself. thanks for the intelligent remarks.

If I was your mate I'd grab the 27K with both hands and find 2K somewhere else. You can get 2K anywhere and damn quickly. From a dealer its cash in the bank and easy - in a private sale almost anyone buying won't be operating to the same timescales as your mate is.

Even the Inland Revenue would wait for the 2K if the 27 got handed over...if its the VAT people its a different matter.

Sorry to hear of your mate's plight.

Indeed what a craking idea, a Cerbera for rainy days and a Griffith for when it's sunny. Why didn't I think of that HeirHerman? R...

Apologies for the predictable cheap shot, but we TVR owners have to make hay while the sun shines

You're quick Mr B, but are you reliable ?

Poor old TuscanRaider. Tries to do his mate a favour and as usual his post get's hijacked by this childish TVR v Porsche banter. Mind you, you started it

Oh, and it's Herr TheGerman if you don't mind.

Sorry Herman, I guess I was commenting more on the "really cheap" part of the post rather than the Porsche vs' TVR bit, however it seems that even the Porsche guys on here agree that you can get a "real" Porsche for less than £29k.

p.s. Sorry but I thought Herr Herman is a respectfull form of familiar address, years ago I used to work in a shop (not Grace Bros.) where the Staff were address as Mr Peter, Mr Percy etc. !

My misunderstanding. My comment re Tuscan was just a comment on the depreciation you might expect to see over the next year (or 2)

You're asking for trouble with that "real" Porsche quote though. Boxster S is quite a tool, although I'm a 911 man myself you understand.
