I want to share a good thread with my fellow Porsche drivers, because (here in the US) I believe there is a rampant case of selective enforcement of the law on drivers of Porsches and other sporting cars. The police make a game out of it, and if you're just out there on a Sunday afternoon with your wife in the car with you, obviously an enthusiast with a well kept car, whatever, they're going after your wallet like you're giving away $100 bills.

They just aim for the numberplate. It is flat and reflective.

On a similar(ish) vein, what do the PH massive reckon to the Road Angel laser detector (the one built into the more expensive Road Angel GPS camera warner)? A couple of pals have got it and reckon the laser detection isn't good enough to warrant the price premium over the standard GPs only model.... or is it all down to careful positioning of the sensors?

The laser detector on any of the GPS systems do work. The problem with them is, they only pick up a laser signal when it is being bounced off your car. ie; if you're speeding, they've probably already got a fix on you when your detector lights up like a Xmas tree...... Laser Jammer obviously more effective, but of questionable legality.....

Can I say that the product on the link through should be banned and is morally indefensable. How on earth can it be right to fit a device that may possibly hinder a Police Constable going about his duties.

However Mrs Henry-F does struggle with her parking and I can see the help & pleasure such a product would give, (as a back up to the park distance control already fitted to the vehicle .

So on balance it may be worth investing to fit to our vehicles. And besides given we don`t have an automatic garage door we can`t really argue the toss with Norman (the lawman), on the "other" products sold.

What a great product. Why Porsche couldn`t use that technology on the std PDC I`ll never know.

Yep - this has always been one of my problems with the garage door opener option - I already have an automatic garage door and didn't really want to screw around with it. This system on the other hand would be eminently suitable for an old porker like mine without parking assistance (but similarly, if your car already has parking assistance this might be hard to justify)!

Would be interested to hear of any customers' feedback on the Pro-park!

Hello guys, I can tell from some of the responses, that they're coming from the eastern side of the pond.

The term "constable" gave it away, lol.

Here in the US we're quite adept at using the radar detection devices, as we've been using them for 30 years. The Valentine One is "the cats meow" when it comes to radar and laser detection.

Of course, if you are ambushed you're "dead meat" as they say, or just plain "meat with hair on it" ha ha. The good news, if someone is ambushed a mile down the road, you'll know about it with your Valentine One. I'm not selling (anything) by the way. The V-1 is only available from the manufacturer, there are NO possible discounts, and they're quite stuffy about it. If you want the best, you must bow and kiss the ring, and pay the stiff fare too, but once you have it, you'll forget how rude they were and you'll rejoice at your ability to detect >>radar<< a mile away.

As for Laser, be advised that there is no reaction time that can defeat a 1/3 of a second response time advantage the laser operator will have on you. If you get hit by laser, you're (as they say in Tennessee) >>"dead meat"<< perhaps a bit warmer than usual due to being irradiated, but nevertheless, you will get a ticket as there is no way a human reaction time will defeat laser. Some of the detectors will pick up "scatter" as the laser beam gets wider and wider the longer it travels. Therefore, if you're a lucky soul and you happen to be a mile behind some "bloke" (see, I'm learning! lol) who get drilled with a laser, then you will have time to slow down.

The best possible defense is the BLINDER, which does work, almost 100% and it puts out an infrared shield in front and behind your car that laser can not penetrate. It's legal here in the US because believe it or not, ha ha, it is regulated by the FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION. Therefore it's still legal to be able to protect against laser, but you'll go directly to jail if you are caught jamming radar.

Got it?

Okay in the US to jam Laser.

Go to jail in the US if you jam Radar.
