hi all im thinking of a new ice system but have not bought a cd for 10 years or so. i have ask a few yung ens for some tips but they speek some other type of lingo.help needed

If you've a DVD burner then this is what you need: Sony MEX-R5 - plays MP3's off DVD's - about £180 if you shop around.

ive been told if you put cd on a disc in mpeg format you can get loads on is that right

MP3 format compresses the track to make it much smaller, I believe you can get about 130 tracks onto a CD that way. Quality is not as good but barely noticable in a car unless you have a very high end set up.

I'd say it's well worth going down the Mp3 CCD route, unless you have an Ipod. As well as being able to fit lots more onto one disc, it means you can take copies of your CD's out and about with you and have them at home. Sony head units can be had for under £100. Saves having a stacker in the boot which you never get round to changing.

thanks for the imput ithink ill go with a sony cd i dont want some git smashing my porsche up to get my ice out i dont have a alarm or any thing on it

I got one of these from the other half at xmas:


Sony Walkman Nw-A3000 20gb

I plugged it into one of these :


Sony CPA9 Car Cassette Adaptor

...so even if you have an old head unit with just a tape slot,an mp3 player is all you need.(and the sound quality is excellent!)
