Happy, Trouble Free Motoring ??

People,
I'm a complete newbie to the Porsche world, but am hopefully about to immerse myself in it. I'm looking to buy a 996, probably gonna have to be a '99 due to budget restrictions, preferably C4, tiptronic cab (Don't want much do I? ). Now after lingering around a few forums, I'm getting a little worried with ALL (I say that in the loosest sence) the talk of engines failures, RMS leaks etc.. (what IS the RMS btw ? ), BUT, I think I have my head screwed on the right way, and the answer on the face of it seems to be fairly simple. BUY A PORSCHE WARRANTY !!. Does that seem about right ?? The only real two questions I have are 1.) If I buy from an Indy dealer, are they likely to guarantee it goes through it's 111 point check to obtain the warranty in the first place, or is that a little naive of me to expect that ?? and 2.) Am I right in thinking that the Porsche Warranty comes with assistance, or is that seperate ?? Oh and the third of my two questions - Can someone just confirm that once the warranty is in place, you don't have to have it OPC serviced.
Cheers,
Maxx.

You're spot on about the warranty. Having said that, I drove my old 993 on and off track for 5 yrs without and had no problems. I have a warranty on my GT3 cos of the eye watering costs if the engine lets go.
Ask the indie regarding cost of the 111 point check - don't think you'll get them to guarantee that but its worth asking, buyers market?
I'm pretty sure you don't have to use pcs for servicing as long as its the right scheduled services are done using porsche parts. My extended warranty booklet says that warranty claims are not valid if the defect..is caused:
- ....."if your vehilcle is maintained or serviced by a co. not recognised in this capacity by the manufacturer or not to the manufacturer's standard"
I beleive assistance comes with the warranty - half the warranty booklet is covered by assistance....hmm, i wonder if should never have bothered with AA 5 star cover for those european trips last yr...
Cheers
