Difference between OPC quotes - can't be right!
Discussion
I went into my local opc (west london) to book in for a service for the mk1.
I was quoted £800 for a minor service and £1000+ for a major. I told the service rep that those quotes weren't right, that I thought it would be more like £350 nd £550 for these services.
"not for a gt3 sir"
I asked him to double check but got the same answers.
I called hatfield opc from home and was quoted £350 and £530 for the same services.
Can there really be that much difference in the quotes? I'm not sending the car to the opc for those crazy first quotes. Its only for the basic service too - any extras i can get done at jzm or by my opc tech.
I may just forget opc servicing altogether and get all the work done indie.
cheers
Ajit.

West London and Hatfield are part of the same group so technically there should not be a difference!
Ask WL why their quote differs from their sister site at Hatfield?
The answer is probably because they are the worst OPC Group in the country!

A sidesidebar. Whenever an OPC driver has collected my cars to take them for a service he walks round the car with me. It's quite depressing as he usually points out scratches I hadn't noticed.
When I had my BMW
the local dealer inspected the bodywork when I took it in for a service. Will
Our local Ford dealer used to inspect the car but that was only after they had scratched it on a previous visit, subsequently taken three attempts to repair it, including painting the rear seats twice
And then claiming to offer excellent service
Of course, don't go anywhere near them any more, don't think they could organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone service a car.

Service pricing is quite clearly published on the Porsche website:
911GT3 minor service £332, major service £528, annual service £116.
It shows the same whether you go to the link for West London or anywhere else...
When I had my minor service at Silverstone OPC they stuck to this exactly.
Best thing to do, write them a letter pointing out their rip off prices, reminding them about the standard cost across the OPC network and inform them that not only have they lost out on your servicing custom, you were planning to upgrade to something super duper later this year and that you'll be going elsewhere for that as well! Should elicit some kind of response and maybe money off your next service. Just a thought.

what is the link for this as can't find it on the Porsche website?
Perhaps they were anticipating all the work they would find to do on your car...

those quotes are a joke, but sadly, everyone I know who has dealt with the aforementioned dealer has made similar complaints with regards to service or sales ( or even someone being told he had to pick his new cayman up in the dark because they were too busy to see him in the morning)
I have used colchester opc for several years now, and have always receieved excellent honest service.
They dont try the "oh your pads and disks need changing ", or the "oh your tyres are getting illegal" tricks,
and they always seem to stick tot the quoted price (which was far far less than your quote) £300 and £500 last two services. (includes a pick up and drop off 75 miles away in kent and always a really good valet.

Go to a reputable Indie and save loads of cash. Just had mine done at JZM for less than £200. These guys really know what they are doing with GT3's and to anyone in the know( which hopefully most prospective GT3 buyers are), their stamp in the book is arguably more of a bonus than an OPC when it comes to resale. What's more JZM service will not adversely affect the OPC warranty as they are a recognised specialist using Porsche parts.

Steve, what did you have done? I've used JZM in the past and they're great (set up on the GT3, cooling ducts etc). I thought they're quotes for the minor and major services on the gt3 on their site are more or less opc prices give or take £50.
Cheers
