Hydraulic Garage Jack for use with GT3 Mk.1

Bit of advice please. My standard size garage hydraulic jack will go nowhere near underneath my Mk.1 GT3. Anyone any advice as to what jack to purchase to overcome the problem ?

You need a Sealey LE (low entry) or similar.

I have used them on everything Lotus, and they don't come much lower. Saddle height min is 80mm.

And they weigh about 6 tons. Loads of alli low entry jacks on the market now, priced around the mid £100 to £200 for a nice one.

Alternatively buy four bits of timber approx 18" by 2" inches by 9" and drive the car onto them. Jack will slide very neatly underneath without a problem.

slightly cheaper version of the ally jacks that are around. seems to have a saddle height of 90mm though.... £118 inc VAT. There seem to be a lot of people selling ally jacks at the moment, several of which appear to be made by the same company, but at wildly different prices!!

Costco have a brilliant 3tonne low level jack for £65. Like all Costco stuff, its serious gear - definitely suitable for the GT3. Looks cool in black too!!

Given i sell them i shouldnt be saying this but i wouldnt touch an ally jack as almost without fail most come back with problems within 6 months, the only exception i would make to this would be a sealey one - as there backup is fantastic

What can I expect from the SIP ali jack I bought from you last year? No problems with it, I hasten to add (in fact I am very happy with it), but I can do without it failing on me during a race meeting....

why do they fail? Just not enough strength in ali vs steel?

Do a search on ebay for 'race jack'. Quite a selection appear and some are very high quality. I got one around a year ago and it is superb.... Very light and very strong. About 80mm entry height. Paid around £85 quid but had to bide my time.
