GT3 check up in London
Discussion
Hey friends,
I have found a GT3 in London. Unfortunately its a 1999 version (2001 had steel synch rings in the gearbox which is preferable. Since I am looking at buying privately where in London can I take the car for a used car check up (Camtune, JZ, etc.) to locate for accident damage, general condition of the car etc. The car is located in Islington.
Secondly, if I do this at a Porsche dealer can I then also sign an international warranty? If so, anyone knows what the check up costs and the warranty?
Thirdly, anyone of you know anything about this car with reg# T 798 TGC as advertised here in the Pistonheads classifieds.
You can send me an PM if you want to jonas.ribbelov@nobia.se
Thank you my friends.
Cheers
Jonas

JohnFM:
Apologies to all '99 GT3 owners. No harm intended. Its just that I understood contrary to the last post that steel synchros were introduced for the 2001 MY. The cars which I have heard have had gearbox failures are the 1999 MY, hence my conclusion. Maybe this is not correct. I actually briefly had a '99 GT3 and the gearbox was very quite sticky but that maybe resolved through an adjustment.
But on the other hand, the sound the GT3 makes is just incredible compared to my 993RS. Altough I tried the cup exhaust on my car whereby you replace the mufflers with "straight" pipes, the sound was amazing - like a GT3 cup car.
Cheers,
Jonas
