Been offered a 996, opinions and help please.
Discussion
Hi, long time reader, but first time poster.
Decided to fulfil a life long dream and get a 911. Fancy a 996, I intend to use it everyday, and would like a manual coupe. Ideally I'd like one with a GT3 aero kit, not everyone's taste I know! I've got two small kids, so need the seats.
I've been offered a 1999 996 with GT3 kit and wheels, 70,000 miles, with a new engine, replaced 7,00 miles ago, under warranty until July. Sat Nav, Sports Seats, Silver with Grey Leather, £27,000.
Good deal? What would I need to look out for?
Thanks for reading

Seems OK pricewise, but not being given away. Have a look at www.rsjsportscars.co.uk to see what Joel's mountain load of 996s go for. Useful comparison.
Stuff to look out for? Hmmm, I suppose this is where the RMS gets mentioned (search the forums for reference to this) but yours has a new engine so should be fine. Basically just make sure it has been properly serviced and has a warranty and then get it inspected. Then enjoy it and don't scare yourself stupid over any horror stories. They're built better than most things on the road and there are plenty of people who can fix them and plenty of s/h or factor parts.
Don't worry; just tick off service history/warranty/inspection and enjoy!

Might want to have a look at the one that Ray Northway has too.
He is usually well priced.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies.
Had a look at www.rsjsportscars.co.uk and saw there's a LHD one coming in with the GT3 kit. The LHD doesn't bother me as I've got an Integrale, but is the boot on a C4 much smaller than a C2? Practicality is an issue unfortunately.
I see Northway has one too, and they're a reasonable distance for me to get too.
Have read a lot on here about RMS, believe the engine replacement was to do with this.
I'll be in a better position next month to buy one, just thought this might be a good deal.
Thanks again.

Cheers, just seen Northways and RSJ are near each other, saw Bristol in the address, I need to pay attention...
Car is in the Midlands, does have clear indicators. It's Silver with a Grey interior, would prefer more of a contrast.
Very tempted by the Black LHD car. Was intending to get a C2 due to boot size.

I have been deliberating over taking the Porsche plunge for about 6 months, and finally went for it via a nice silver Carrera 4 996 from RSJ. I can honestly say it is one of the best things I've ever done in my life, I love driving once again. Even if it all goes horribly wrong from now on I'll still die happy
Go for it.
Go for it.

Could I fit an overnight bag in a C4?
Sounds like an excuse to go and look at some, think I know what I'm doing tomorrow
I have a 996 C4. The boot will take too large gym kit bags with room to spare. It will also take a week's shopping from Tesco... unless you have loads of kids

two kids. A weeks shopping is more than ample, I can always use the rear footwells too?
