Pretty sure you will need spacers on an '85, early 944s have a narrow track- but off the top of my head I can't remember if it was pre S2 era when they changed.
Stutgart connection in Essex stock 'em. On standard suspension the 944 rides like sh*t on 17's tho, mine rides much more sweetly on S2 16's than on the old 17inch cup rims.

Well 16" Fuche Alloys supplied by Porsch-Apart www.porsch-apart.co.uk/. No Spacers required and Look the business thanks Simon - just a shame the Boxter 17's were a no go.

You will feel a great loss in acceleration if you put 17" and these rims would definitely not look appropriate on a 944.
IMO the best wheels to put are original black 16" Fuchs. Don't try to get any further.
Is your car a mk1 (924 dashboard) or a mk2 (oval dashboard)?
If it's a mk1 the Fuchs rims shouldn't need any spacers.

Got to disagree Thom, even tho I'm not a fan of big rims on older porkers I think the 944 on some genuine Porker 17's looks great- well they did on my silver 944 with cup 2 rims, and if you get the rolling radius the same the acceleraton & speedo reading will be the same, the ride (on stock suspension)is admiditly s

Its all opinon ref looks I guess, but black Fuchs on the 944 aghhh,
