Well - today I had some warranty work done on my 996 at the Sussex OPC in Burgess Hill.

They were polite, excellently organised and did the work quickly, professionally and all under the Porsche warranty - very different experience from the other OPC nearby.

Whilst having the work done, they gave me a 987 Boxster S to play with (unfortunately with no fuel in) - and frankly I really disliked it. It had an interior a little like a vauxhall, performance that felt very flat, rattled AND ran out of petrol on the A23 despite the compter saying "12 miles until refuel" - nice.

I therefore ended up stood by a car I disliked, looking like it were my own and then....up pulls PC plod to have a word about my interesting choice of parking on the A23 verge!! How embarassing!

Anyway, the other thing I did was go and drive a mkI GT3 (again) and was underwhelmed to be honest. Not quite sure if it was just this car, but I almost (bizarrely) craved for my 996 back.

So - at the end of the day (after having to pay the OPC £10 for fuel!) I got back in my simple carrera 2 996, fully fixed and was completely and utterly back in love. I'm gonna keep it!

What an odd day.
