My colleague has just picked up (from the factory) his brand new 996 Turbo (and yes, its bloody lovely).

1 question, the stereo: once you put the cd/stereo on it won't turn off without turning off the sat nav also.

anyone know the cure ?

Cheers.

Assume this is a PCM question.

I just turn the volume right down, if I want Sat Nav without CD/Radio. You still get the nice lady talking to you.

I'd also be interested if there's a 'proper' way of doing it.

Sorry guys I don't know. I don't have PCM on my car.

However this sounds like a RTFM issue!

That's a good point but unfortunately mine's in German and despite the name I can't understand a word.

I don't know if this helps but the equivalent system on an S class merc works like such:

Half a dozen buttons covering Telephone, CD, Radio, TV, SatNav etc. Press the appropriate button to turn it on and press the same button to turn the appropriate bit off. So even using the same screen you can switch all the audio options around throughout a journey and the SatNav remains running. Does the porsche system have similar buttons?

Not really Daz.

There's one big knob (oo er missus !) that switches the whole unit on or off. This main button is also the volume control.

There's a button that let's you switch between CD and radio. I reckon if you don't want music, switch to radio and turn the volume down.

I'm surprised you haven't got PCM. I thought it was standard in TT's ?

PCM isn't standard on TT's. When installed you loose the two empty Din slots infront of the gear lever. As they locate the CD for map reading in the top slot and move the Aircon/heater controls to the bottom one.

I took the view that I needed this space for various licence protection weaponary controls.
