997 RUF Conversion

Just seen the following on the US RUF Site & thought it may be on interest to people.
Basically, you can have a 'Kompressor Kit' added to a 997 which adds over 100bhp.
Theres a car for sale which has had it done, and looks very nice indeed, here:

How much this conversion costs however, I have no idea.

Alright, so having looked into it a bit further, +100bhp looks b@llocks.
Still... A standard carrera from 325 to 415bhp, a an 'S' from 355 to 435bhp, ain't bad.

I hate to say it but Ruf wheels are heavy, so you might want to stay away.
On the other hand, I've driven the modified car in the image and can report that the conversion makes a meaningful improvement to throttle response. If you want to stay with a Carrera rather than getting a GT3, the Ruf Kompressor is definitely worth considering.

Will they not offer the same conversion to a 997 GT3 when they come out ?
RUF upgrades all naturally aspirated Porsche 996 and 997 Carrera for more performance.
Many Porsche 996 and 997 Carrera owners would like to have additional horsepower for their vehicles. RUF provides the solution! RUF‘s bolt on Kompressor Kit, which includes a supercharger with intercooler, provides improved acceleration, torque and maximum speed. Horsepower and torque are increased throughout the RPM range.
The Kompressor Kit contains a centrifugal compressor, which is driven mechanically by a Poly-Rip belt. The maximum boost is 0,5 bar; the fuel pressure remains standard. The engine receives a new intake manifold, modified injectors, sports catalytic converters and a modified electronic engine management. The watercooled intercooler has a cooling water circuit with an electric water pump from the water cooler in the front spoiler.
The 996 Carrera 3.4 liter engine has a performance of 360 bhp (265 kW) and a torque of 400 Nm; the 3.6 liter engine has 410 bhp (301 kW) and 440 Nm. The supercharged 3.8 liter engine of the 997 Carrera S provides 435 bhp (320 kW) and 470 Nm torque, the 997 Carrera has 415 bhp (305 kW) and 450 Nm.
996 Carrera 3.4 liter with RUF Kompressor – acceleration: 0 – 62 mph (0–100km/h) in 4.7 sec., 0–125mph (0–200 km/h) in 15.8 sec. Maximum speed: 187.5mph (300km/h).
The Kompressor Kit fits to all 996 and 997 Carrera with rear or four wheel drive, including manual gear box or tiptronic S.
The Widebody Kit compliments the increased performance of the Kompressor Kit. Included are a RUF designed front spoiler, front and rear fender flares, side skirts and a rear spoiler inspired by the “Ducktail“ of the legendary 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The Widebody Kit also fits the 996 GT 3.

Guarantee for upgraded engines: 2 years or 25.000 miles (40.000 km)
