According to my manual the automatic spoiler on my Boxster raises at 75mph, which is a bit of a give away to plod! I heard that on the 996 the spoiler is adjusted by Porsche UK to raise at 70mph, does anyone know if that's also the case on the Box?

Cheers

I suspect its all done in software so you could have it come up and go down at any speed you want. I think as standard it goes up at 75mph and goes down at 55mph or summat like that...

So what if it is a giveaway? When they pull you over the spoiler will have gone down...without video evidence its not going to count for anything...and even then...it would only be corroborating evidence for something they've already got you for.

Basically I'm saying..why worry? My spoiler seems to go up everytime I hit a NSL. Funny that..

The dealers can affect the software.
standard is up at 75mph down at 36mph...this is to avoid the thing going up & down all the time..
I may be wrong but I really don't think Police look for spoilers up,as you have the manual button in the car which you could have pressed.
having said that now we have clued them up we had better disconnect said spoilers.

I thought the spoiler played a part in the aerodynamics of the car a la the Audi which had one fitted retrospectively, albeit fixed. Have I misunderstood?

Have Porsche really fitted an overide button which may remove downforce at the time it is needed? Wow, aren't there some legal implications on product liability if an accident resulted. Same applies to a dealer changing the software I would have thought.

The manual switch fitted inside the car,is so that you can raise it when cleaning the car.Don't think it is there for you to lower it out of any preference.

That's right. Blasted thing gets filthy and you have to raise it (whilst stationary) do clean it up. The switch is way down in the footwell so it would be impossible to operate whilst moving...even if you wanted to.

When I've been following various Boxsters I always thought the spoiler went up at 70mph ... so it's 75 then. Whose speedo is out ... my Audi's or Porsche's?

I'm sure I've seen them go down again at around 70mph. I was following a Boxster once and his spoiler was up 'n down every few minutes in traffic and he wasn't reaching for a switch in his footwell that I could see.
