Porsche GT2 for sale in auction

Nothing to do with me but BCA Nottingham are advertising a Porsche GT2 2001 model with 24K on the clock going through the auction on the 16/02/06.

Many porsches go through this auction but I thought I might as well mention it as the GT2 is a rare beast.

My guess is it will sell very cheap. Make sure you ring before going as sometimes the cars are taken out the auction.

If anyone is interested good luck, I would have gone to see it if I had not of purchased my 993 last week.

I even saw Dealmakers Lambo go through when he bought it.

68k plus 1.5k fees seems a bargain for a 53 plate GT2 with less than 2000 miles on it (assuming no accident history, etc, etc).

Do cars that come through auctions still have the manufacturers warranty, etc ? is this a really silly question ?

The general rule of thumb to apply at an auction is "your eye is your merchant" i.e. expect the worst and be happy if all is well.

2001 Y reg GT2 Comforts are retailing on PH classifieds at c£58k where you can see it, drive it, get finance etc. So as you "buying as seen" expect this car to be no more than c£45k as there will still be a buyers premium & vat on said premium to add [c£1000]

Arrived at as follows £58k retail less £4k margin, less £1k paint, less £2k for general, less £6k for "fighting fund" just in case...

If the car is sound, one has to wonder why it would end up in auction.

The last auctioned one I heard of was Rob Kenworthy of gumball fame's car. Wouldn't touch that one

Likely a repo or co car from a bankrupt company.

Auctions can give excellent bargains for the brave. You can also buy sheds that will tear the financial heart out of you to get them up to a condition that you'll re-sell them.

But for someone looking to purchase a GT2 & have it modded, would this not be a cheap way of doing so ?

I mean 45k, and then you send it to the tuner of your choice, RUF, etc, then surely you've saved yourself considerable money ? Have you not.

As for state of paintwork, etc, well again, you get it cheap so you could afford to have it resprayed the colour of your choice. Ideal.

I'll have a nice white one with carbon rear wing & carbon door mirrors. Black wheels & white outlines around wheels.

You could end up with a VERY powerful, sorted GT2 for circa 70k, which to me seems a bit of a bargain.

Depends how far you want to go. 996TT X50 or GT2 to 550bhp is less than £20k from memory.

Presumably you could also end up with a car that never feels quite right because the chassis has been bent at some point in its life.
