I must confess that I'm not entirely certain I can make it out to the ring this year, so this may not get off the ground, but I certainly appreciate the offer.

We've met before in the PK
But I'll be sure to come up to you this year. I'll be there most VLN races as well. Moving to Duesseldorf gives me that opportunity

Only one of many "stunts" that has earned him his reputation. Although I think it's the worst, or at least the worst I've heard about.

Are you sure you don't have a V10 hidden back there in the boot - where's he gonna sit?
Technical question ... what is the correct term for luggage space when it's at the front? (and no resorting to American car terminology to describe a satisfactory answer)

You didn't ask me, but that has never before kept me from piping up.
Surely the engine compartment is the compartment in which resides the engine, irrespective of where within the chassis that may be.
The engine compartment and the boot are different things.
"boot" - the luggage compartment of a motor car, usu. at the rear.
Oxford English Reference Dictionary
(Please note that it does not say "only at the rear".)
The boot cannot be where the engine compartment is. If the latter is in the back, the former is somewhere else.

You yourself common? Common? You, sir are a man of rare distinction and gravitas (maybe not when you're sideways, but you are most of the rest of the time).
IIRC, I put the FAK in this little stowage compartment at the side of the engine compartment, er, the boot with the engine in it.
As regards the stowage compartments at the side of the F1, where else would you expect me to carry my boots?
