Well I went to look at a new car today, not Porsche. So what does the Porsche decide to do? Break down

Where does it do it? Surrounded by TVR's.

Who see's? A bunch of bum-fluffed TVR tyre kickers. Big grins on their faces.

But AFN was round the corner, and I knew I only had to wait a couple of minutes before the next transporter arrived with a knackered TVR. Sure enough 2 mins later I had hijacked a transporter and was on the way to AFN.

Got to AFN and it started and ran like a dream, talked to the guy for ten mins about the car went for a slash, and it had stopped again. All fingers pointing to crap in the fuel, i'd run it very low the day before and I normally fill up at the 1/4 mark (due to crap fuel economy).

AFN are going to do a full check and flush the tank....

I'll keep you posted.

As the owner of both a 911 and a TVR who is now freezing his whatsits off in the TVR, because the Porsche is dead - you have my sympathy!!

A friend with a T2 had a difficult to diagnose fault, that affected the running. Something to do with a turbo vacuum (?) pipe. Anyway, it was intermittent and caused his car to die on its arse. He had it fixed by Parr Motorsport IIRC, but 9M may know something about it.

Hope it gets fixed soon. Nothing more embarrassing than Porsches breaking down in front of TVRs!

Cheers

Funny you should mention it, that was what I thought originally. I had hit the rev-limiter on the way to mole valley, having done this several times before I didn't think too much about it. But this is the first time I’ve done it on 1 bar...

It's in good (but rather expensive) hands, so should be back on the road soon...

Thom, don't be a tw*t.

AFN confirmed 'contaminated fuel'. Or more precisely don't run your (10-year-old) car down to the vapors. If it weren’t for the 'regular as clockwork unreliability' of TVR's I would have been really stuck, or had to ring for my OWN tow truck.

When you have UPGRADED to a Porsche let us know....

Ive got to admit although to me the 993RS is almost god like in its greatness if I had UV's wallet and his passion for turbo'd motors for a £40k'ish' budget it would be a Noble that would be tempting me, they are simply fantastic cars. Mind you surely UV could be looking at a Pagini Zonda and a few other exotics being a zillionare city boy

You boy's....

If I didn't have such a bad coke habit I would be laughing.

No, to be frank, I'm still keen to prove 3.3 turbo's can break the 200mph barrier with relative ease and have been getting counter quotes today for the work.

Although Noble is presenting an interesting problem, I suspect i'll be staying with pork..... But they are nice

I wont a Gembella 650 993 GT2…..

Was that a threat or a come on?

Thom's a student, not a minder, which suggests it couldn't be a threat. Plus he's french, which suggest s amorous intent....

I'd say that UV's hookers have a bit of competition. I hope you have some Euros handy, UV!

Yes, I'm only a brainless french student (nice 3-words pleonasm eh?! ) and I'm always ready for laughing at 911 owners' "gentle" misfortunes

No one called you brainless, Thom. Don't keep putting yourself down

One day you will own a 911, and see what the fuss is about. Remember, I went through a 944 S2 cabriolet and 944 Turbo before seeing the light

I should get the car back today or Monday. They ran a full (4 hours +) diagnostic on the car and also determined that a pipe from the intercooler should probably be replaced while they had the car. So, just waiting for a new pipe....

Have to say the AFN guys have been bloody good, although I haven't seen the bill yet.

I'll post more on the mods in the New Year, 3.4 Ruf BTR conversion anyone....
