Just picked up my 993C4S from them this morning - did a great job (windscreen replacement) and seemingly didn't damage anything. Gave me a new Boxster S while they did the work. I've not had many other dealings with them beyond buying parts but they've always been good to me and the coffee's not bad. Chris Harris seems to rate them pretty highly in his recent write-ups re his 993 GT2 work. They also offer 10% discounts for work on older model Porsches. Work looking around in there from time to time - they often have interesting older models in the showroom - 959, 993RS, GT2 etc...

Although now called OPC Bristol, based out at Cribbs Causeway, it is the same Dick Lovetts team that used to operate opposite St Mary Redcliffe in the city centre. I bought my car from them and continue to use them for servicing work, they have been excellent.

I've found them to be really helpful - Can't fault them. I'm thinking of booking my car in there for it's next service (due soon). I presume that they have some old timers there who are 'au fait' with the 993 if they've done good work on that GT2?

I recently had some bits repaired on my GT3 there and found them very cheery (though still expensive like any OPC!)
Not sure about their sales team though - asked them twice to find a GT3 for me, but got no response and ended up buying it at Reading OPC.

best OPC bar none imo.Only OPC in my experience to really cater for the enthusiast who might not just want a Boxster/Cayman/997 etc.1st class mechanics who are happy to talk to customers direct.Great bunch of people working there,I unreservedly recommend them.

I can't speak for the servicing side, but from a sales point of view I would steer well clear. Dealing with them at the moment for a Cayman S due on the first of March, and their offer for my part exchange is derisory especially considering this is the third car i've bought from their group in the last 2.5 years. I don't blame the invdividual salesman for this it just appears that all their whole operation is setup to screw the customer for a much as possible. This will be the last car I buy from them, and if it wasn't for the £5K deposit I would walk away now!

To top this they are now refusing to fit standard Trackers to any new cars (as it will invalidate the warranty), you've got to buy Porsche's own system which not suprisingly costs twice as much for the same thing...brilliant!!

Sorry for the rant, but what was supposed to be a pleasant buying experience has been some what spoiled!!

Er if their offer on the PX is derisory have you considered selling elsewhere for more?

The tracker system thing is understandable. A family member's merc needed £4k worth of work to sort out a bad installation a few years ago. Luckily it was the supplying dealer who had carried out the install...... ie their problem not ours.

Edited to say welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy the car when you get it.

Thanks for the welcome dazren.

I'm going to keep the other car, the thing that annoys me is that they charge you full price for main dealer services but don't provide them, they take the full profit on the car they are selling you, and then want to make another £5K minimum profit on your part exchange. As I said it may pay off in the short term, but long term they've lost a customer that spends £40K a year on cars with them.

Would agree with you here. I also had an experience of them in 2004 trying to charge me more for a used car than it was actually priced at on their stocklist. The servicing side are very good.

Interesting you mention the fitment of trackers. I was told that by Guildford OPC, some drivel about bodywork warranties. That said, the salesman (who has been an absolute top chap in every respect) had the required words in the required ears and it was done on the QT in a corner of their storage facility.

You expect to pay a premium with an OPC, that's fair enough. But I agree, I think they are just trying to make a few £££ here.

Spoke to Porsche GB in Reading about this today, and they confirmed that any electrical problems on cars with a 3rd party Tracker fitted, could have warranty work refused. And lets face it, the majority of problems with modern cars are electrical based so just not worth the risk.
