Fresh Air Blower Motor 3.2 Carrera

Can anyone assist please ? The fresh air motor blower behind the dashboard on my '88 3.2 Carrera is not functioning correctly and running erratically.
Does anyone know how to access the motor or can point me to a website which sets out idiot proof instructions on how to do the job ?

My blowers packed up a few months ago. To have them replaced on my 993 RS meant taking the fuel tank out (I kid you not) and this cost me a load of cash. Sorry if this is bad news!

3.2 carrera isn't too difficult to do, no removing fuel tanks etc, just lots of skinned knuckles and swearing. Had to do it to get at the wiper intermittent relay.

Back of front bonnet compartment, take off the "cardboard" trim. Housed in a big black plastic enclosure which pops apart. Haynes do (or certainly did) a manual for the 3.2).
