What will hold it's value better?

a 996 GT3 Mk1 or a 993 turbo 4? Both are about the same price ie 45k but which one would be the one you'd lose the least amount of money on?
I'm thinking GT3 as there are less of them around?
Thoughts?

both should be good so buy the one you want, rather than worry whether loses £1k more than the other

I love both cars but if I had to choose I would say that the 993 would be worth more over time. This is based on being the ultimate air-cooled 911 with a great rear-end. At the moment, the values of 993 turbos seems to be rising whereas GT3s are falling.

have to agree with leosayer as far as future values go. however dont see this criterion being a good basis to buy a performance car on. plus if I had a GT3 it would be spending a fair bit of time on the track , and in that environment I'd expect it to deliver more satisfaction than a straight 993 turbo.....the downside being that using it in this way would drive the value down unfortunately. oh well , all part of the fun.

Nervy, just face it, you're in denial! You've become so sensitive to the 993/996 comparison ever since you bought a girly pink 996. Some of us are happy without satnav, PSM, etc. and love the shape of the 993. A tad luddite maybe, but each to his own. Just enjoy driving your appalling modern contraption and try to keep it on the grey bits...

There's a 993 Turbo article in this month's GT Purely Porsche. Running costs are pretty steep.

Tough call between them but IMHO GT3 still has a little more depreciating to go before it levels out.

993 has probably levelled out although the running costs are much more if both cars do the same mileage.

An RS of any ndescription will is likely to hold it value better than any of the above.
