Hi all..
I've been looking on ebay for a set of 15" wheels for my 944.. i have a set of 17"Cup 1 wheels on, which are awesome, but slightly wide for the car.
I want a set of 'track day' wheels - the bigones rub on the wheel arches uner hard cornering.
've got an Andy Walsh training day followed by a trip to the ring coming up and dont want to rip my wheel arches off in the process..
If anyone knows where i could get a half decent cheap set of old 944 wheels let me know..
alternatively, can i just stick any old 5-bolt 15"-ers on or do they need to be porker ones?

You can pick up a set of cookie cutters for buttons these days, Check ebay regularly,they do come up quite often.
Porscheapart and Douglas Valley breakers may also be worth a look.
I would recommend you use proper Porsche wheels, other 15" 5 stud wheels may well have different offsets.

944 S2 design 90 wheels
Sounds like you may be using a later wheel on an early model car if you have rubbing issues. My S2 has 17 x 9 cup3s with 255s and does not rub. It ight be worth checking what if any spacers you have fitted at the rear. My old car had the factory spacers at the back which were about 30mm thick. Thinner ones may solve the issue.
The largest std size on 15" wheels is 215/60s. I had them on my old car with no problems, even on the track.

Just to echo - I've got a 1988 Lux with 17" 255s on the back and 225s on the front, and no rubbing on exhuberant road driving...
On the S2 no spacers at all. There is about a finger width between the tyre and the arch.
That is with 255/40/17 Federal super steels (a gamble but they are miles better then the ZZ1s
that were on ther before) which have very square shoulders.
The older models were the only ones with a spacer.
You could always get the offsets altered a little by machining the back of the wheel centres down. I have done it several times to get exactly what I wanted on my Seven.
