Ultimate spec on Cayman for someone who just wants to drive

Right then so if you're going to order a Cayman as I'm thinking of doing but don't want to pay the same as a 911 whats the best spec? All i want it for is to drive and if possible be OK for long drives to Spain.
I was thinking...
Metallic paint, PASM, Bose for the long journeys with the wife.
Is that enough or shoudl I go for leather over PASM or add that and PCM.
Oh and by the way why do Porsche list the part leather seats as being an non-optional extra. What are you supposed to sit on if you don't want to pay up?

The dealers always say that you need to spend extra to have a re-sellable car.
But they never want to pay for it come trade-in time.
My view is, buy waht you want. And if you want it yellow, have it.
The most disappointing car is one that you only bought because you were planning to sell it from the point of purchase.
The Cayman is proving to be a very very good car --- I want an RS ! (Can you imagine a GT3 engine in one ? --- I can !!)
But they never want to pay for it come trade-in time.

I bought a Boxster S (second hand) with PASM, bose, cd changer, arse heaters, cruise, 19s, metallic, climate (cheecky gits) and maybe something else I can't remember. Anyway, no point in PASM unless you are tracking it, even in hard road use. The BOSE is crap, maybe better in a hard top, but it's overly bassy and artificial sounding.
If I was speccing from new, I'd go for heated seats, cruise, climate, more minor stereo upgrade, metallic, nav. and not much else. The seats are full leather as standard (and electric backrest adj.) the full leather is the dash etc. Doesn't really need it. Good argument for sticking with 18's too, far cheaper tyres.

yes pleaseMetallic paint and that's about it. 
The standard wheels look great, maybe consider crested wheel centres for that added "je ne sais quois". The radio/CD's a bit weedy, but TBH when the exhaust volume's cranked up, it just gets in the way anyway and probably like me, you'll get more pleasure out of the exhaust than you will out of the stereo.

The standard wheels look great, maybe consider crested wheel centres for that added "je ne sais quois". The radio/CD's a bit weedy, but TBH when the exhaust volume's cranked up, it just gets in the way anyway and probably like me, you'll get more pleasure out of the exhaust than you will out of the stereo.

I haven't asked a dealer direct but you get part leather as standard (except that if you look on the car configurator they charge something like £750 for them which is what I meant) Any more than that is a very steep charge for something that comes standard on most cars this price.
The headlineI guess should have read "...drive with my wife in the car on long journeys who can't map read"
so PCM seems a good idea. and PASM doesn't sound worth the extra from what I've read in this and other posts.
As for Speccing for the next guy. I got my fingers burnt on that with my first lotus and so ever since then spec for myself. proved itself when I sold my Type-R. They dropped the price by 1200 because it didn't have aircon, which cost..1500 so I saved 300 then!

Actually does anyone know what IR they typically use on their preferences financing? And have they ever been known to chuck in freebie options at OPCs?

but a Box S has full leather seats as std so a Cayman S will have too. Box 2.7 only has part leather seats as std.
Boxster has leatherette/alcantara seats as standard. Partial leather is an option. I was assuming this was the same for all Boxsters, whether the 2.7 or 3.2S?

Thats what I guess is the case with the Cayman too. Can't believe you have to pay extra for any amount of leather, but thats another discussion which should be covered under "why porsche are so profitable"
