Of to test drive a 997 Carrera S tomorrow.Sat nav,phone option,lumbar seats and most of the toys.800 miles on the clock.What do you think is fair value please?

I'm no expert, so I've plucked these figures from the air. They sound about right to me. Private £65k, independent £68k, OPC anywhere between £71k and £75k?
Sorry, that was far too helpful of me. What I meant to say was why do you want a 997, they're rubbish and you should buy a 993.

Buy a 944 mate, it will save one or another of the snob clubs making generalisations about your character (see pecking order thread)

have a look at 996 pricing so you'll know how much of a hit your taking for the pleasure of owning a st of VW heaadlights

Hi Pete,

Sorry, that was a rubbish joke referring to the usual 993 versus everything else debate on here. I've had my 997 for a year on Wednesday and I love it. For 12500 miles I've been grinning like an idiot. It's perfect around town, relaxed on motorways (I drove down to Nice in it the other week) and obviously an absolute blast on the twisty stuff. My only slight regret is not having the sports exhaust.

A fair point. They have come down quicker than I thought they would (oversupply, I suppose). You may get a better deal if you look at slightly higher mileage than 800 miles. I can vouch for them wearing well if that helps.

So come on, how was the drive? Are you hooked? Has the bank manager been informed?

I am now hooked!Just sorting out the finance but should pick it up next week,run it in properly and then thrash the s*** out it goinng down to Le Mans In June....can`t wait

There's a late 2004 car in the classified - take a look to see what kind of bid you're going to get in 12 months time - I think it's up for £56k, and I suspect that slightly more than the OPC is offering him......Hopefully that wont be of concern, so enjoy the car.....
