Every time I walk towards my silver 996 with GT3 alloys, I think wow what a great looking car, I'm very lucky to have it. So why am I being drawn to the new Focus ST in blue? It looks really good and Ford seem to have got the styling just right with some of the best alloys I've ever seen. I'm trying to convince the wife to buy one but she likes the comanding driving postition her 4x4 gives her. Wish I had the spare money so i could use it for travelling to and from work.

All the reports are also raving about it, anyone else fancy one?

How bizarre that this thread should appear today!!

I have been thinking this very thing since I read the Autocar road test on the ST yesterday. I knew I liked the car, but now I am very drawn to it as a daily driver.

I love the way it has a 5 pot engine that sounds like an Audi Ur rally king.

Gotta dig the 3 dials on the top of the dash: oil temp, oil pressure and turbo boost.

The Recaros look great. Those alloys look like they came off a Lambo.

It is hugely practical. I'd have a 5 door to really max out the practical side of the machine.

The brakes look good on paper. The journos say that the ride and handling on B roads is sublime.

But most of all, I love the way it is a FORD. People say that the Golf is a "classless car", but I love the Ford Focus ST because it is exactly that.....it has NO CLASS. It is a shell suit of a car, with white socks and new trainers. How refreshing next to a Mk5 Golf GTI with it's sombre suit and snooty man about Chelsea image.

I prefer the hooligan.

Oh.......and it's very cheap. I'll wait 2 years and get one for 12 grand.

Funny this but ever since seeing the advert with the orange one, I have been thinking about it as a daily driver, keep the GT3 safely tucked up in bed.

LMAO GROUP BUY!!! We are not talking about brake pads here Sean, it's still a fair few quid!

I am delighted that other 911 owners have been drawn to this car as well. I was in the pub last night with a mate who is getting a Mk5 Gold GTI and he had to suffer me going on about the new Focus ST. He was really fed up of me by 11pm.

Check out the Flash micosite on Ford's website:

Jonny

Of course it's the same as Brake pads, just cost a little more.

I spoke with one of the car supermarkets and they were selling them at 2k under list.

I'll give you £12K for your RS in two years time so you can go straight out and buy one. Can't say fairer than that!

Sean,

I have looked at a few supermarket websites and none of them are advertising the ST under list that I could find. I suppose you actually need to talk to them?

Here is the copy of an email I received...

Sean,

Thank you for your email.

This is a UK supplied vehicle with the usual manufacturer's warranty.

The OTR vehicle price, is the price on the web site plus:-

£350 for metallic paint (except Electric Orange)

£198 for 12 mths road fund license and registration fee

£17043.00 + delivery for an ST 3

£15943.00 + delivery for an ST 2

The safest option we recommend for delivery is by transporter.

We deliver by transporter to your home address at an approximate extra charge of £100 - 200.00. If you would like an exact quotation for transporter delivery, please confirm your full postcode.

A choice of colours are available and you can add some of the factory options available. The price is exactly the same as the Ford brochure or web site.

We are taking orders now for April delivery.

At New Cars on Line we offer a very safe and secure purchasing process which gives you complete peace of mind. We ask for a small deposit of £500 paid by credit card and then the final balance is only paid by banker's draft when the car is delivered to your home address.

Please contact me again if you wish to discuss your enquiry further.

We could also provide a PCP quotation if you were interested.

Kind regards,
