My 996 has almost new Pirelli Assymetrical on the front (N3)and Conti's on the rear (N1),(still plenty of tread left)Question is:-I am obviously aware that this not an ideal set up,but should I get the rears replaced ASAP or wait a little longer and get a few more miles out of them?
Cheers
Steve

**Edited for the correct type of Pirelli's now**

That's easy Steve -donate the Rosso's to me to trash on track and put new Conti's on the front -not a good idea to mix.....

Hi Steve,..I would be inclined to go back to Camtune as I am suprised they are selling a car with such a set up,unless of course you have a new set of rears factored into the deal.
This time of year,a car that is new to you, without PSM I would be inclined to get good rubber on the rear.Better to have as much advantage as possible.
I have the P zero rosso on mine,,I understand they are OK more of a hard wearing option than out & out performance.I am happy enough with them but would like to try the Michelin Pilots when the time comes.

Hi Paul,
No I don't have anything agreed with Camtune.I think its unlikely they will 'play ball'as the car was probably £2k cheaper than an OPC where I wouldn't have had such a dilema.Think I'll just have to fork out for 2 new Rosso's for the rear!

Steve, just pretend you bought the Boxster, and drive very slowly everywhere

If you are intrested in selling them then email with a price as I have the same on the front.

Steve..on the tyre front...I beleive the wheels you have are 10" wide at the back....a lot of people fit 265 on these...Pirelli do a rather nice 285/30-18 that goes on the 10" without rubbing...If you do not have the 285 already it is another possibility.Micheldever had them at £240 each last time I checked..

Paul,
Sounds like a good idea......what does it do to the handling though?

Does anyone have any experience of the 285's on the
Sport Design Wheels on the rear?
Steve

As no replies to this.....I think I'll stick to the 265's
