Why dont many new cars have popup headlights? Is it just a style thing?

Because they look hopelessly dated (IMO at least)? Yes, I'd guess it's just to do with styling moving on.

IIRC they are no longer legal. Apparentley due to safety issues but could realy be that a lower frontal area make it harder for the laser operator

I'd Guess that lighting technology has moved on whereby smaller (but powerful enough) lights can be mounted at the required height under shallow slanted clear lenses. Eg look at the small diameter lights fitted to cars such as the F575.

There is also an aerodynamic considerations against popup lights.

Check out the profiles of the usual suspects who post here. Most list the cars they own, and some even have pictures of their cars. You can access the profile by clicking on the name of the person in the thread.

There's no way you'll derail this thread into a 'what car(s) have you got' list because it's very boring. Besides, after a couple of posts it'd degenerate into the usual argument whether 993s or 996s are better

(by the way, the 993 is the best Porsche made. )
