Dear All,

I need a 'real world' value (private sale) for a '99 996 C4 tiptronic. 96k miles, but is only two owner and has full OPC service history. It's Ocean blue, black leather interior, excellent condition inside and out. Recent front end respray due to stone chips (verified).

It does not have sat nav, but does have the Porsche sports suspension and Porsche sports exhaust. Has been well maintained - loads of invoices etc. As it's a C4 it has clear lenses already and in addition has the 3-spoke Porsche sports steering wheel and the 18" Carrera alloys.

Porsche extended warranty to end of May 2006.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

Tricky one, but with that mileage £19-20k tops,

Turbo man must be a 993 lover to price that at 19-20k.

I have been looking at the lower end 996s for a few weeks now, I would say £21-23k

...yep - I agree I think. Things that (for me) make this car a cut above the norm are the FPSH, very well looked after, sports suspension and exhaust, balance of Porsche warranty and two owners (which indicates largely motorway miles).

Maybe even £25k?

Are you looking to sell or have you seen this car for sale?

If selling I would put it up for £23995 but have a min acceptance price of around £21-22k. That may sound a bit low but when someone is waving a bankers draft or cash in your face it is amazingly easy to accept a low figure.

Well, I recently picked up a late 98 C4 with 67K miles and medium spec and judging from what I paid for that I'd say about £22K is about right. But expect lots of much lower offers and a tough time getting a sale. For me the best bit is the sports exhaust, especially if it is the OPC switchable one.... oh and the extended warranty helps as you can emphasize in your advert that it can be extended again (up to 9 yrs old I think).

sorry, i was thinking trade in values (downside to being in the motor trade I guess, you just see the trade in value of everything), yes you can easily add a couple of grand for a private sale.

Many thanks for all the replies - most useful. I'm actually looking to sell quite soon - had the car
for almost 4 years and now time for a change. Thinking about the new Audi RS4.

If you struggle to sell it give us a call. You are guaranteed not to lose the car to theft or fraud and ultimately there may not be a massive difference between what we would pay for the car as an outright purchase and what the private man will give after all his prodding and poking.

And no, I can`t value it without seeing the car !

..Hi Henry - will give you a call in due course and arrange a time to bring the car round for a valuation. As you say, it would save me dealing with all the timewasters.
