I need a 996 TT.

I am now looking for a decent 996 TT and have a budget of around £60K. I have looked on the classifieds and at the Porsche site but does anyone know of any other car available at other dealers or private sellers?

I have also read about some changes to the 996TT spec, what year did the changes happen and what was changed?

The bulk of the changes to the car happened from MY02 onwards - but nothing major. If you do a search on something like "rain sensitive wipers" you should find a recent thread detailing all the changes.

The change was in late 2001 and it included:
- modified interior to accomodate a glovebox. Previouly there was no glovebox.
- rain sensitive wipers
- bose sound system
- auto dimming mirrors

I'll sell you mine and leave you with some change to buy anohter toy for the track.
Its a 51 plate with 20k miles,one owner(me) immaculate and hard to fault in Lapis Lapis Blue with OPC warranty running 'til Oct . It needs nothing.

I'd sell for £50k now - above current trade and ~£5k-£7k below OPC retail.

P.S. not desperate to sell it until I get a 997TT (my deposit is paid and i'm high up on OPC waiting list).

I have a close to imaculate 14k mile Jan 2003 car. Completely standard, never tampered with, almost new tyres, being serviced Friday.

Probably worth about £58/59k I guess-not priced them for a while so am guessing a bit. - Seal grey and metropole leather (almost charcoal colour interior).

Not advertised anywhere so e-mail if interested, and there is a photo on my profile. Close to M25/M1 junction. I was planning on selling July/August time as I wanted to take it to Le Mans in June. I could be tempted to sell early if you were interested.

Have a 2002 52 plate manual TT with factory X50 pack.

Artic Silver, black leather,rear park assist, full carbon pack, aerokit, tracker, etc etc.

One previous owner to me, 9000 miles only. Just had a property deal go down on me this morning so I will sell her for 60k which is what I paid for her just 5 weeks ago from Meridien Modena.

a good value one in the Sunday times this week - from memory its was an 02/03 with low miles (four figures) manual with good spec incl PCM cobalt/grey for about £58k

Before you pull the trigger on any puchase make sure that you thoroughly check out the service history on these cars. I spent over 2months trying to find a 2002 or newer manual 996TT, and during that time I came across a lot of cars that had very poor service histories...for example I saw quite a few cars that went over 20,000 miles and over 2.5 years without any service whatsoever. Make sure you look a the service book (and if you're really picky like me call the dealer to check if the services have indeed been done). Also, I would recomend that you resist the temptation to buy a car that doesn't have the spec you want just because you want to have it right away. If you're patient you will find the perfect TT for you. I ended-up finding one in absolutely mint condition, and with the x50 pack!

lfr, I know what you are saying and I think I have been very lucky. I have been to see the silver 996TT that thesnug has mentioned above. Service history is perfect (confirmed by Porsche Reading), the spec is superb and even though the car has a warranty on it I am having an RAC inspection carried out tomorrow.

Generally I am very impatient so to find a car this quickly suits me perfectly. If my past car owning record is anything to go by the car will be for sale again in 6 months!! But I hope that because of the spec and milage I should hold onto it for a while.

suggest you forget an RAC inspection which I regard as a total waste of money and get someone who actually knows the cars to check it over

take it to an OPC and get a 111 inspection done
